The third way we can harness the mind to help us in challenging situations is:
Instead of trying to use the mind to access information, we do the exact opposite.
QUIET. The opposite of using logic. Letting go of thought.
LETTING GO OF ALL THAT’S FILLING YOUR MIND. STAYING OPEN. NOTHINGNESS. TRY ACCESS INNER QUIET.
It’s the opposite to accessing memory or language. It’s even more powerful, it’s quitening the mind in order to access a deeper wisdom. It’s to really listen (for wisdom, for intuition) instead of fitting it into to your picture. THIS IS MINDFULNESS.
TAKE YOUR TIME. SLOW DOWN THE THINKING. EMPTY YOUR MIND OF CHATTER.
Why didn’t we mention time with body? What about slowing down?? Because sometimes when you take your time when you’re angry or upset , taking time will only reinforce these feelings. You’ll get more angry, stew in it, find more reasons to get upset, build up resentment.
So taking time only works with being conscious, with the intention to soothe. Mindful time. ‘I am now going to another room so that I’m no longer in this active space’, not just in order to leave.
So I guess I’ve already touched on mindfulness so much here that it’s time to give a definition…
